Lukas Growe Playing Uprigt Bass

Lukas Growe

I approach music from the foundation up through sound, time, and interaction. The double bass is my point of orientation: grounding, open, and deeply connected.

The double bass represents a musical center for me, a place where rhythm, harmony, and form meet. I’m drawn to its natural, wooden sound and the physical grounding it provides. From this position, I focus on locking in, shaping time, and interacting closely with all musical elements.

My practice is rooted in jazz but not defined by labels. I work as an improviser and band member, interested in different perspectives and constant exchange. Growing up and working in Berlin has shaped my approach, a city where genres, ideas, and people continuously overlap, creating space for exploration, learning, and collective sound.
